The way our skin ages will vary greatly from person to person but what causes this to happen? The biggest contributor is genetics which we have no control over. You could be the individual who ages gracefully your entire life or you may be on the unlucky side. The great news is that moisturizing can help to slow/hide the affects of aging.

As we age our skin tends to be more dried out due to a decrease in the amount of oil your sebaceous glands produce. If you were prone to acne when you were younger, the over production of sebum(oil)  was likely a major contributor. Now that you are older your skin is producing less oil thus resulting in an increase in wrinkles. This is why using a moisturizer is so important it helps to prevent dryness and slowing the creating of new wrinkles.

In addition to slowing the formation of wrinkles, emollients in the moisturizer will fill the spaces between your current fine lines. Nothing we use will ever remove the wrinkles our skin has already formed we can only slow the process or cover them up slightly.

The skin around your eyes is one of the most sensitive areas on your body when it comes to wrinkles. Be careful about what types of creams or chemicals you apply to this area as sometimes these products can do more damage than help. Be sure to pay close attention to any chemicals inside a wrinkle cream if you choose to opt for something a step above a simple moisturizer.

remember that moisturizing your skin is an extremely simple and low cost technique to slow and hide the presence of wrinkles. A good moisturizer will give your skin a healthy, refreshed, look for years to come. Take care of the area around your eyes most of all as this is an extremely sensitive area on our bodies.
